(Patria) - Umoljani, located in Trnovo, about an hour's drive from Sarajevo, is among the most beautiful villages in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
In Umoljani, you will be greeted by a beautiful landscape, and a little further on, Studeni Potok, which winds on the southern side of Bjelašnica, writes Punkufer.hr.
A legend is associated with the interestingly shaped stream, according to which a giant dragon attacked the inhabitants of Umoljani in ancient times. It flew from the Rakitnica canyon and had the body of a snake, and as it wound its way to Umoljani, it left behind a trail that Studeni Potok follows today.
The villagers fled to a nearby hill and prayed for salvation, and fortunately, the dragon turned to stone above the valley. Over time, the winding trail filled with water, which meanders all the way to the waterfall in the Rakitnica canyon.
The waterfalls of Studeni Potok, which cascade 350 meters deep into the upper canyon of the Rakitnica River with 21 cascades in spring and autumn, are a first-class attraction for excursionists, hikers, and tourists, according to the website dedicated to the most beautiful villages in BiH.
The shortest path to Studeni Potok leads through Gradina, a traditional shepherd settlement above Umoljani. Visitors who decide to ascend through Gradina will experience a magnificent view of the valley.
The mountain water of the stream offers refreshment, and the entire valley has become a kind of sanctuary for those seeking peace and an escape from the city bustle.
