End of the European dream for Banja Luka's Borac

(Patria) - Football players of Banja Luka's Borac have ended their European journey for this season, writes Faktor.

The Banja Luka team was defeated by Rapid in Vienna tonight after extra time (1:2) and thus dropped out in the round of 16 of the Conference League. The first match in Banja Luka ended without a winner (1:1).

Already in the first minute, Rapid had two colossal chances. First, Manojlović saved Beljo's shot from three to four meters with a miraculous intervention, and in the continuation of the action, Schaub hit the crossbar.

Ten minutes later, Grgić also threatened, but the Borac goalkeeper was in place again.

Manojlović saved Borac in the 18th minute as well. Schaub shot powerfully, and the visiting goalkeeper, who was excellent tonight, punched the ball out for a corner.

Borac threatened for the first time in the 20th minute. Vuković played to Herrera, who set up Ogrinec, but he failed to hit the target.

Rapid hit the woodwork for the second time in the 37th minute, with Jansson shooting.

At the start of the second half, the home team also hit the post after a shot from Wurmbrand.

After an hour of play, Rapid had a three-on-one situation. However, Wurmbrand was selfish, and his shot was stopped by Manojlović.

And as it often happens in football, for all the missed chances, the Austrian team was punished in the 66th minute. Savić crossed from the right, and Ogrinec scored, bringing great joy to the Bosnian champions.

However, the joy did not last long, as the home team equalized four minutes later, with Beljo bringing things back to square one.

In stoppage time, Rapid missed a great chance through Kara, who failed to hit the target from a few meters.

In the second minute of the first half of extra time, Manojlović made two more miraculous saves, but he couldn't do anything in the 96th minute. Schaub shot and hit the far corner, bringing joy to the Austrians.

Rapid's opponent in the fight for the semi-finals will be Sweden's Djurgården, who defeated Pafos 3:0. The first match in Cyprus ended with Pafos winning 1:0.
