End of Golf's dominance: Dacia Sandero is the best-selling car in Europe

(Patria) - The era when Volkswagen's Golf convincingly held the title of the best-selling model in Europe is long gone. Now, new players are on the scene.

One example is Tesla, or rather the Model Y, which currently carries the main burden of electrification in Europe.

During the first 10 months, this model sold as many as 183,799 units, in the markets of EU countries, EFTA, and Great Britain.

However, this does not mean that the Model Y is the best-selling European model. It is "only" second.

The status of the best-selling model in Europe is still held by Dacia Sandero, Automotive News has learned.

One of the cheapest models on the European market is also among the most popular.

In the first ten months in Europe, it achieved a minimally better result than Tesla, but still better.

Sandero reached sales of 184,088 units, reports Poslovni.hr.

In third place is the Volkswagen T-Roc with 164,833 units, and in fourth place is the former European bestseller - Peugeot 208, with 163,672 units sold.

The Top 5 is rounded out by the Renault Clio with 154,493 units sold this year.

Looking at the results for October, the situation is as follows: in October, the best-selling model was again the Sandero with 21,139 registrations, followed by the Renault Clio with 14,534 newly registered units.

Tesla's Model Y, with 9,660 registrations, dropped to 24th place.

However, it should be said that Tesla increased sales of this model in Europe by as much as 142 percent this year, from 75,854 last year to the aforementioned 183,799 units.

The only model with approximately such growth was the Chinese MG ZS with an annual sales growth of 107.7 percent.
