KK Bosna became European champion 45 years ago

(Patria) - Basketball Club (KK) Bosna achieved a historic victory over the Italian Emerson on April 5, 1979, in Grenoble, France, and became European champion for the first time.

In front of 12,000 fans, the popular Students celebrated a great victory with a score of 96:93. At the time, it was the greatest success in Yugoslav, and to this day, Bosnian-Herzegovinian basketball, writes Historija.ba.

The European champions were welcomed in Sarajevo, where several thousand fans chanted and sang until dawn.

Bosna: Vučević, Đogić, Benaček, Bosiočić, Izić, Radovanović, Zrno, Varajić, Delibašić, Bilalović, Hadžić, Pešić. The coach of this brilliant generation was Bogdan Tanjević.

Emerson: Gergatti, Colombo, Gwalko, Morse, Osola, Menegin, Canneva, Tosarinni, Carraria, Yalverton. Coach: Dodo Ruskoni.

This generation of Students was written in golden letters in both Yugoslav and European basketball.

In the next four years, Bosna won two more Yugoslav championship titles - in the 1979/80 and 1982/83 seasons.

Among significant international achievements, it is worth highlighting the second place at the club world championship, the Intercontinental Cup held in 1980 in Brazil.
