Qatar Economic Forum: 'A Reshaped World – Navigating a Year of Uncertainty'

(Patria) - The Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani opened the 4th Qatar Economic Forum on Tuesday, 14 May 2024. The forum in Doha, the Qatari capital, is being held under the title "A Reshaped World: Navigating a Year of Uncertainty", according to the Qatari state news agency QNA.

Emir Al-Thani welcomed the guests of this significant gathering of European and Asian leaders, of which he is the patron, emphasising that the Forum has become a "global platform for presenting constructive ideas on global economic and geopolitical issues", as well as for promoting innovative proposals to overcome existing challenges.

The opening address at the Forum was delivered by the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, who also participated in the inaugural panel discussion with the President of the Republic of Poland, Andrzej Duda. The second panel featured the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dr. Anwar Ibrahim.

The event, in addition to the highest Qatari leaders, including the Chairman of the Advisory Shura Council, Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim, was attended by the President of the Republic of Palau, Surangel Whipps Jr. and the newly elected President and Minister of Defence of the Republic of Indonesia, General Prabowo Subianto.

Also present were numerous ministers from countries friendly to Qatar, heads of diplomatic missions accredited in Doha, senior officials, parliamentarians, economic experts, representatives of regional and international organisations, and the media.

Incidentally, on the sidelines of the 4th Qatar Economic Forum, Emir Al-Thani met with Polish President Duda. The meeting discussed bilateral relations between the two countries, ways to develop and enhance them in various areas of cooperation, as well as regional and international issues of mutual interest. With a special focus on the latest developments in the Gaza Strip and the occupied Palestinian territories.
