CAPTAIN TOOK RESPONSIBILITY Edin Džeko saved the Dragons from embarrassment

(Patria) - Bosnia and Herzegovina recorded a victory in the match against San Marino, solely thanks to captain Edin Džeko.

Although his appearance today was questionable due to back pain, for the umpteenth time Edin Džeko showed why he is the captain and leader of the team. He entered in the second half and after just a few minutes of play scored a goal, the only one during the match, but one that saved us from embarrassment.

In the 4th minute, a sharp cross from Demirović after a pass from Malić, but the San Marino goalkeeper Colombo was secure.

A good chance for San Marino in the 13th minute. Lazzari shoots, but the ball goes wide of the goal in this situation.

Two minutes later, another chance for San Marino. Zannoni tried nicely, but the ball goes over Vasilj's goal.

A big chance for Bosnia and Herzegovina in the 16th minute. Baždar shot well, but a San Marino player clears the ball off the goal line.

Baždar missed an empty goal in the 34th minute. It was hard to write anything about it except that it was a huge miss by the Bosnia and Herzegovina striker.

A new attack by the visitors in the 40th minute. Zannoni tried from about 20 meters, but the ball goes over Vasilj's goal.

Šunjić tried from distance in the 41st minute, but the ball goes far wide of San Marino's goal.

The visitors had a good chance until the end of the first half. Malić blocked Nanni's attempt at the last moment.

Our national team entered the second half with three substitutions at halftime. Dedić, Muharemović and Memić came into the game, while Malić, Barišić and Gigović remained in the dressing room.

The first chance in the second half of the match came in the 53rd minute. Our national team threatened after a scramble in San Marino's penalty area, but it was not too serious.

After an hour of play, Barbarez had to react because our national team's play was, to say the least, dismal, so he brought Edin Džeko onto the field, with Samed Baždar coming off.

This paid off for coach Barbarez just four minutes later when Edin Džeko scored the goal to take the lead against San Marino.

After that, there were no real chances until the 75th minute when Džeko tried from the edge of the penalty area, but the ball goes over the goal.

Burnić also tried four minutes later, but the ball goes slightly over the goal after his shot.

Džeko tried brilliantly first in the 85th and then in the 86th minute, but had no luck. First, the San Marino goalkeeper was secure, and the second time the ball went just wide of the post.

Until the end of the match, the score did not change, and Bosnia and Herzegovina achieved a minimal victory in Zenica against San Marino.

The applause that the audience gave today after the end of the match was intended exclusively for Edin Džeko.
