The Kjeragbolten rock is an attraction where everyone wants to 'catch' a selfie

(Patria) - If you are a fan of hiking or creating memories in the form of photos in the most unusual places, there is a rock on Mount Kjerag in Norway that might interest you.

The only problem is that its position might scare you a little. Ask yourself if you are brave enough, writes Punkufer.

In southern Norway, near the village of Lysebotn, between two cliffs, i.e., in a crevice of Mount Kjerag at an altitude of almost 1,000 meters, lies the Kjeragbolten rock.

It is assumed that it got stuck there during the last ice age, and today its position attracts tourists from all over the world.

While some wait in line to take photos on this wedged rock, those who do not dare to step on the rock climb up for the view itself and the beautiful scenery along the way.

It is an attraction on the route to the highest point of Mount Kjerag, which reaches 1,080 meters.

Hiking to Kjeragbolten is recommended for those in at least some athletic condition. The ascent takes 3 to 5 hours, depending on the pace, and starts at the parking lot near the Oygardstolen viewpoint.

It involves quite steep ascents and descents, with a total elevation gain of about 600 meters, and climbing in rainy weather is not recommended as the rocks are slippery.

The path is open only during the summer months, i.e., between June and September, and the steeper parts of the ascent are equipped with ropes for assistance.

This Kjeragbolten rock and the mountain in whose crevice it is located are part of the scenery of the Norwegian Lysefjord.

It is one of the most beautiful fjords in this country due to its unusual rock formations and cliffs offering a beautiful view.

Besides Kjeragbolten, there is also the Preikestolen location, and the entire mountain hike is an oasis of unforgettable scenery.

If you are not ready for the climb or have a fear of heights, you can also explore the fjord by boat, departing from the city of Stavanger.

Thanks to the incredibly beautiful scenery of Lysefjord, Mount Kjerag in Norway has become a popular spot for the extreme sport of Base jumping.

Base jumping is parachuting from various fixed objects such as mountains, cliffs, buildings, etc.

From this plateau on Mount Kjerag, Base jumping enthusiasts often launch themselves into the abyss.
