What dominance: Australian teenager leaves competitors far behind in 100-meter race

(Patria) - Is this the new Usain Bolt - a question posed by Spain's Marca in an article dedicated to 16-year-old sprinter Gout Gout. However, Marca is not the first to talk about this young man, reports Jutarnji list.

Former Australian Olympian Jane Flemming compared Gout and Bolt after his performance at the Queensland Athletics Championships, where he easily dominated the 100-meter race with a time of 10.29 seconds.

- If I have ever seen someone run like Usain Bolt and have his build, it is Gout Gout. He is only 16 years old, and he has already broken the national record in the junior category, and his times are quite similar to those Bolt ran at the same age - Flemming said.

Gout was born on December 29, 2007, in Queensland. His parents came to Australia as refugees from South Sudan.

He fell in love with athletics as a little boy and immediately showed his talent. Now he has set a new Australian record for under-18s by running the 200-meter distance in 20.87 seconds.

That is not much slower than the time the famous Jamaican set on the same distance when he was 15 years old. Bolt then ran 200 meters in 20.58 seconds.

- The comparison is pretty cool because Usain Bolt is probably the greatest athlete of all time, and just being compared to him is a great feeling. I am trying to build my own name. If I can reach his level, that would be a great achievement - Gout said.

The young Australian, however, does not highlight Bolt among his role models, but rather Erriyon Knighton and Noah Lyles. But comparisons with Bolt will never be able to avoid. And such things are truly a big deal...
