(Patria) - The South Korean national football team defeated the Czech Republic 2:1 in Guadalajara, in a Group A match of the World Cup.

The Czech Republic took the lead in the 59th minute with a goal by Ladislav Krejčík, while the victory for South Korea was secured by In-beom Hwang with a goal in the 67th minute and Hyeon-gyu Oh in the 80th minute.

The first half saw little excitement on the pitch; South Korea was more concrete, with captain Son attempting several times, but no goals were scored.

Unlike the first, the second half brought excitement. The Czech Republic took the lead in the 59th minute, with Krejčí scoring. Vladimír Coufal executed a brilliant throw-in from the right side, sending the ball in front of South Korea's goal where Krejčí was best in the air, heading it into the net.

The Czech lead did not last long, as South Korea equalized already in the 67th minute. In-beom Hwang received an excellent ball, entered the penalty area, deceived the goalkeeper and another Czech player with a feigned shot, and scored for 1:1.

In the 77th minute, Tomáš Souček headed the ball into South Korea's net following a cross from a free kick, but the goal was disallowed for offside.

Just three minutes later, South Korea completed the comeback. In-beom Hwang advanced down the right side and crossed the ball into the Czech six-yard box, where Hyeon-gyu Oh was waiting and had no trouble beating Matěj Kovář.

In the first match of Group A, Mexico defeated South Africa 2:0 at the tournament's opening.

In the second round of Group A, Mexico will face South Korea, while the Czech Republic will play against South Africa.
