Jannik Sinner conquered Wimbledon!

(Patria) - Italian Jannik Sinner won his first Wimbledon title today.

In the final, he defeated Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, the world number two, 3-1 in sets (4:6, 6:4, 6:4, 6:4).

This is Sinner's fourth Grand Slam title of his career, after winning the Australian Open twice and the US Open once, writes Sportklub.

With this victory, Sinner ended a streak of five consecutive losses against Alcaraz in their head-to-head matches.

However, the Spaniard still leads with eight wins in a total of 13 matches against the Italian.

Interestingly, Sinner and Alcaraz have jointly won eight of the last nine Grand Slam singles titles.

The only one they did not win was last year's US Open, which was won by Serbian Novak Djokovic.

Sinner's more aggressive approach paid off on Centre Court at the All England Club. He broke serve first in every set.

Admittedly, he led 4-2 in the first set and then lost four games in a row. However, he did not repeat the mistake in the remaining three sets.

In the second set, he broke in the first game, saved a break point in the next, and left Alcaraz without another opportunity until the end of the set.

In the third set, Alcaraz's lost serve in the ninth game was decisive, and in the fourth, Sinner broke in the third game.

Alcaraz had a chance to come back when he had 15-40 in the eighth game, but Sinner won four consecutive points to get within a game of the title.

When he had the chance to close out the match on his serve at 5-4, Roland Garros did not repeat itself. There, Alcaraz saved three match points on his serve in the fourth set, but at Wimbledon, he did not get away with it.

On the second match point, Sinner hit a serve that the Spaniard could not return, and the celebration in the camp of the world's best tennis player could begin.

For the title at the All England Club, Sinner was awarded three million pounds (around 3.5 million euros) and 2,000 new points, so he will be convincingly first in the ATP rankings on Monday.

He will have 12,030 points, a full 3,430 more than the second-placed Alcaraz, who leaves the All England Club richer by 1.52 million pounds (around 1.75 million euros).
