James for two more years with the Lakers

(Patria) - American basketball star LeBron James has signed a new two-year contract with NBA team Los Angeles Lakers, ESPN reports.

James will receive $52 million per season, or 48.3 million euros.

The 39-year-old will thus play in the NBA league until he is 41, and in the next competitive season, his son Bronny James, who was selected 55th overall in the recent draft, will join him.

The two will thus become the first father and son to play in the NBA league simultaneously.

The two-year contract of the four-time NBA champion also includes an option for him to become a free agent again after the upcoming 2024/2025 season, similar to what he did this summer.

James began his NBA career in the 2003/04 season, and since then has scored a record 40,474 points with the Cleveland Cavaliers in two different stints, as well as with the Miami Heat and the Los Angeles Lakers.

He won the championship title four times, once with Cleveland (2016) and Los Angeles (2020), and twice with the Heat (2012, 2013).

Last season, his journey with the Lakers ended in the first round of the playoffs against the Denver Nuggets.

He averaged 25.7 points, 8.3 assists, and 7.3 rebounds per game in 71 games during the regular season.
