Ismail Zulfić with six gold medals announces EYOF

(Patria) - A total of 27 medals won by the SPID Swimming Club and an excellent individual performance by the best para-swimmers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ismail Barlov and Ismail Zulfić, at this year's "Podgorica Open" meet, are the best prelude to the upcoming participation in the European Paralympic Youth Games (EYOF) in Istanbul.

The Montenegro Open Para-swimming Championship was held last weekend in Podgorica, organized by the Paralympic Committee of Montenegro and the Mako Swimming Club.

Swimmers from Montenegro, Serbia, Slovenia, Croatia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina participated in the competition, and the results were evaluated in the absolute category.

Bosnia and Herzegovina competitors won 27 medals, including 14 gold, seven silver, and six bronze, along with six personal bests.

The most successful competitor was Ismail Zulfić with six gold medals. His clubmate and current Paralympic champion from Paris, Ismail Barlov, won one gold, and two silvers and bronzes each.

Ahmed Mašetić brought three golds to Sarajevo, while Selma Purić had one gold, three silvers, and two bronzes.

Young Kanita Šabanović added three golds, two silvers, and one bronze to her medal collection, while Lejla Sporišević won a bronze.

SPID was also represented by Nađa Imamović and Merjem Islamagić, accompanied by coaches Amra Arapović, Ilda Kukuruzović, Tarik Kurtanović, and Amel Kape.

"Our two best para-swimmers, Ismail Barlov and Ismail Zulfić, used this competition as a test as part of their preparations for the European Paralympic Youth Games, which will be held in Istanbul from July 21 to 28. The "Podgorica Open" competition was fantastically organized by our sports friends from PK Mako from Podgorica. Many thanks for the hospitality, and we will gladly return to Montenegro. The open-air pool itself adds a special charm and a fantastic feeling. We especially thank the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Sarajevo Canton, the Paralympic Committee of BiH, BHTelecom, and the Bunjo Group," announced the SPID Swimming Club.
