(Patria) - The Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina completely rejects the ideas of the memorandum on the ethnic division of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which was presented in Zagreb these days, and behind which stand radical right-wing political and church circles.
"This has reminded the Bosnian-Herzegovinian and world public of the dangerous SANU memorandums and other plans for ethnic domination over parts of the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina and its division, which led to horrific conflicts in the 1990s, and ultimately, crimes against Bosniaks that have been adjudicated before international courts as part of a joint criminal enterprise (JCE) and genocidal intent," stated the Public Relations Office of the Riyasat of the Islamic Community in BiH.
The Islamic Community considers it deplorable that, instead of memorandums that would build trust, confront the past, and work on integration and ensuring equal rights for every citizen and every people in every part of Bosnia and Herzegovina, ethnic domination of only one people over a part of the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina is being invoked again from Zagreb and Belgrade.
"Such irresponsible policies have caused enough evil in these areas and can only lead again to new conflicts and, God forbid, new 'ethnic cleansing' and 'humane resettlement of peoples,'" the statement reads.
The Islamic Community, concerned for the Bosnian-Herzegovinian Muslims Bosniaks and Bosnian-Herzegovinian society, warns responsible political circles among Bosnian Serbs and Croats, as well as circles of the Catholic and Orthodox churches, to decisively reject the idea of further division of Bosnia and Herzegovina and to begin, together with Bosniaks, advocating for the unity of our homeland on the foundations on which it has rested for centuries, on the unity of the peoples of Bosnia and Herzegovina and their religious plurality.
"No people in any part of Bosnia and Herzegovina has a greater or exclusive right than any other people or citizen, and only such an approach can bring true peace and equality for all. History has taught us that after every drawing of borders of ethnic domination, conflicts follow or dissatisfaction among those who would create a new reality on the ground. We must not repeat these mistakes," the statement concluded.
