(Patria) - The spokesperson for the Iranian government confirmed the "full readiness" of the men's national football team to participate in the upcoming World Cup in the USA, Iranian state television reported.
Iranian Minister of Sports Ahmad Donyamali stated two days ago that his national team would travel to the tournament on the condition that its security is guaranteed.
On the other hand, FIFA President Gianni Infantino said that Iran will "certainly" participate.
Iran is scheduled to play against Belgium, Egypt, and New Zealand in Group G.
Let us recall that Iranian officials questioned their national team's participation back in March, as all three group stage matches were supposed to be played in the United States of America.
The proposal to move its matches to Mexico was rejected.
US President Donald Trump stated that the Iranian footballers are "welcome," but added that the arrival of their fans might not be appropriate "for their own safety."
