(Patria) - A new report from Counterpoint Research on global smartphone shipments has been published. According to their data, the market was dominated by the latest iPhone.
Counterpoint published the latest research on its website, showing the ten best-selling smartphones in the first quarter of 2024, compared to the same period last year, as reported by Index.hr.
The top four spots were taken by the iPhone 15 Pro Max, iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 14, with the leading Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra in fifth place.
The Galaxy A15 5G and A54 took sixth and seventh place, while the iPhone 15 Plus took eighth. The Galaxy S24 and A34 rounded out the top 10.
According to Counterpoint's estimate, sales of iPhone Pro models generated more than 60% of Apple's total smartphone revenue.
They highlight a significant increase compared to the first quarter of 2020, when Pro devices accounted for 24% of iPhone sales.
Counterpoint notes that one of the reasons for the increased sales of premium smartphones lies in the fact that users often keep their devices longer before upgrading.
"Consumers hold onto their smartphones for longer periods because upgrades offer small differences in features. This leads consumers to opt for premium smartphones to ensure their devices remain technologically relevant for a longer time," the report states.
It appears that sales of premium iPhones remain strong. However, overall iPhone sales fell by 10% in the first quarter of 2024, compared to the same period in 2023.
