(Patria) - Ibrahim Šehić, goalkeeper of the Bosnia and Herzegovina national football team, has ended his international career after 66 appearances. Following Miralem Pjanić, who said goodbye a few days ago, Šehić has now done the same.
"I've been thinking for days about what to say and how to start. An incredible 14 years have passed since the first call-up for the dearest jersey. Just as my father lost his life defending our homeland, I defended it in my own way, as best I could - proudly wearing the BiH crest 66 times," Šehić said in a post on social media.
"I am grateful to everyone who accompanied me on that path, my family, friends, coaches and teammates, you made me a better person. And the biggest thanks, of course, goes to the best fans, BHF. You are the heart of this national team, thank you for everything. I experienced the most beautiful memories, the greatest joys and sorrows, success that lifts you to the heavens and defeat that you feel in every cell of your body.
Going to the World Cup, winning the Kirin Cup, winning the B League of Nations twice and many unforgettable victories and matches will remain in memory.
We still have a lot to show. I hope that will happen soon with the new coach who has always been a role model for all of us! Sergej Barbarez and the entire coaching staff, who have gone through everything that players are going through now, will be your best mentors. Take care of our Bosnia and Herzegovina, and from today I am the loudest fan," Šehić said.
