Hull City secures Premier League return with stoppage-time goal: Great success for Sergej Jakirović and Amir Hadžiahmetović

(Patria) - Hull City players have secured their return to the English Premier League.

Hull defeated Middlesbrough 1-0 in the play-off final at Wembley today.

The team, led by Sergej Jakirović from the bench, is thus returning to the English elite after nine years, and a great success has also been achieved by Bosnia and Herzegovina international Amir Hadžiahmetović, who is part of the Hull team.

There were not many clear chances in the first half, and Hull came closest to scoring at the end when McBurnie hit the crossbar of Middlesbrough's goal.

At the start of the second half, Middlesbrough threatened through Fry, who came very close to scoring in the 48th minute, but the ball went wide.

As the match approached its end, both teams played quite cautiously, so it seemed that the decision would only come after extra time.

However, in the fifth minute of stoppage time, the moment of decision arrived - after a rebound, McBurnie found himself in the best position in the penalty area and scored, causing an eruption of delight among Hull fans.

Middlesbrough could not threaten seriously until the end of the match, so the great celebration of Hull's players and coaching staff could begin.

Hadžiahmetović recently returned to contention after an injury but did not play in today's final.

He is expected to join the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team soon for the pre-World Cup gathering.
