Croatia lost, then led, and ultimately missed out on a win

(Patria) - The Croatian national team let a victory slip away against Albania in the final moments today at the "Volksparkstadion" in Hamburg, drawing 2:2.

This was a match in the second round of Group B of the European Championship being held in Germany.

The Albanians took the lead, then the Croatians turned it around, and just when everyone expected the main referee to blow his whistle for the last time, the Albanians scored for a final 2:2 draw.

Albania took the lead early, at the 11th minute the scoreboard read 0:1. Qazim Laçi scored the goal to give his national team the lead.

Croatia waited a long time for an equalizer, and got it in the 74th minute. Andrej Kramarić scored assisted by Ante Budimir.

Two minutes later, Croatia achieved a turnaround, with Klaus Gjasula scoring an own goal after the ball deflected off him and ended up in the net.

And just when everyone expected the match to end, true shock followed for the players and all the fans of the Croatian national team. It was the fifth minute of stoppage time when Gjasula redeemed himself for the own goal and scored the equalizer.

After two matches played in Group B, Croatia and Albania each have one point.

In the other Group B match tomorrow, Italy and Spain will meet in the second round at 9 PM.
