Historic success for BiH cycling: Lejla Njemčević in the Top 10 at the world's toughest race

(Patria) - The best Bosnian-Herzegovinian cyclist Lejla Njemčević and her teammate, Farank Partoazar, successfully completed the eight-day Absa Cape Epic race in South Africa, achieving a fantastic historic result. In the final, seventh stage of the competition, they took an excellent 6th place, securing them a high 9th position in the overall general classification.

The Cape Epic rightly bears the epithet "Tour de France of mountain biking" and is the toughest mountain bike race on the planet, and this year's edition fully confirmed that.

Eight days of racing were marked by extreme weather conditions that varied from one extreme to another. In the early stages, competitors battled unbearable heat and temperatures exceeding 40 degrees, while other stages brought extreme cold, heavy rain, and riding through deep mud. Due to these harsh conditions and the merciless African rocky terrain, a large number of dropouts were recorded, which further emphasizes the significance of the top placement achieved by the best BiH cyclist.

After crossing the finish line, our best cyclist did not hide her satisfaction with the achieved result, but also with the fact that the preparations carried out in her home country were key to success:

"I am very happy to be the first female competitor from BiH to represent our country at the world's toughest stage race. The race was extremely demanding, but that is what we prepared for. I would especially like to emphasize that we completed all preparations for the world's toughest race in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and absolutely nothing surprised us. Over eight days of racing, we managed to be tactically and technically fully prepared, so I completed the entire race without a single technical failure or crash. Now we continue with the rest of the season with great confidence," said Lejla Njemčević.
