Englishman's historic feat: O'Sullivan achieves biggest maximum break ever

(Patria) - Seven-time world snooker champion Ronnie O'Sullivan has written a new page in the history of this sport.

At the World Open in Yushan, O'Sullivan achieved the biggest maximum break ever - a total of 153 points.

O'Sullivan reached this incredible achievement in the first frame of the quarter-final match against Ryan Day, laying the foundation for a convincing 5:0 victory.

The key moment occurred when Day was left in a snooker position and failed to find an escape, which gave O'Sullivan a so-called "free ball".

The Englishman then used the green ball as an extra red, and then potted the black.

After that, he continued the run by potting all 15 reds with 13 blacks and two pinks, before clearing all the remaining colours for a final score of 153 points.

With this result, he surpassed the previous record of 148 points, set by Jamie Burnett in 2004 during the qualifiers for the UK Championship.

O'Sullivan will play against China's Wu Yize in the semi-finals, who defeated Mark Allen 5:1.
