Thousands of Muslims performed Eid prayer in Ljubljana

(Patria) - The central Eid celebration for the area of the Meshihat of the Islamic Community in the Republic of Slovenia was held at the Muslim Cultural Center Ljubljana. The Eid sermon was delivered by Mufti Mr. Nevzet-ef. Porić. The center and the area around it were insufficient for all the believers who came for the Eid prayer, showing how many Muslims there are in Ljubljana and Slovenia.

In his address, he spoke about the transient earthly life, the suffering of people in Gaza, Ukraine, but also about Muslims in Slovenia.

"The Islamic Community in the Republic of Slovenia has been active on Slovenian soil for more than a century. With the construction of the mosque in Ljubljana, we inscribed ourselves on the religious map of the Republic of Slovenia. We are very happy that by building the mosque we managed to enrich the society in which we live, because the complex of the Muslim Cultural Center Ljubljana has contributed to greater recognition of our Community, openness, cooperation, and inclusion in the wider social community.

Our goal is to build bridges of friendship, understanding, and cooperation through various programs we organize within the Islamic Community. We will build strong cooperative ties with churches and other religious communities in the Republic of Slovenia and strengthen interreligious dialogue, which will help people better understand their work colleagues, neighbors, and friends.

Dialogue with the state and its institutions should be strengthened in various areas. As religious communities, we contribute to the diversity and richness of Slovenian society and help the state in solving various humanitarian and social problems of its citizens, who turn to us for help. We also perform other generally useful tasks. Therefore, we expect more understanding and assistance from the state through a partnership relationship, because we, as members of religious communities, are also taxpayers.

Finally, I pray to Almighty God to grant health to the sick, provision to the poor, and to those who have been expelled, to return to their homes. We pray to God to grant peace throughout the world!

We pray to God to forgive our sins and accept all our Ramadan acts of worship! We pray to the Exalted God to spend Eid al-Fitr in health, joy, and comfort, together with our loved ones," stated ef. Porić.
