Hajduk lost the match, hooligans lost their minds: Ugly scenes at the biggest derby in Croatian football

(Patria) - Hajduk players were defeated by Dinamo at their Poljud stadium in the Cup semi-final tonight. The only goal of the match was scored by Sandro Kulenović in the 14th minute.

The Zagreb team will play against Rijeka in the final, who earlier today also defeated Lokomotiva with a minimal 1-0 score.

However, dissatisfied with their team's performance and the result, Hajduk fans decided to cause riots - first at the stadium.

Immediately after the match ended, a part of Torcida (Hajduk fans) ran onto the Poljud pitch and headed towards the Dinamo players, who were celebrating their advancement to the final at that moment.

The players ran towards the tunnel. The police immediately intervened, and the fans were driven back to the stands. Hajduk fans also threw flares at the visiting fans, and chairs were also thrown.

The riots then spilled outside Poljud. Fans threw flares, stones, glass bottles, and flares in the wider area around the stadium, attacking the police and overturning containers. The police responded with tear gas.

Containers were burning throughout the city. A helicopter circled the area around Poljud the entire time. The police kept the Dinamo fans and players at the stadium until 10:30 PM.

Slobodna Dalmacija reports that the fans also had planks and that the police arrested a group of them near the stadium. Clashes between fans and police continued - flares, bottles, and stones were thrown again.

Fans also set several containers on fire. Bystanders fled for their lives. The police managed to drive the fans away from the stadium, towards the very center of Split.

In the side streets, there were also hooligans with bloody heads...
