Gratz: Municipality of Centar is not functioning due to bad atmosphere

(Patria) - Councillor Denis Gratz attended the session of the Centar Municipal Council today. The session was ultimately not held.

"An hour and 40 minutes after the start, it was determined that the agenda had not been adopted. The key reason: the municipal administration did not provide the councilors with the materials.

Similar problems are recurring from session to session. The agenda is debated for hours, and it's not the first time it hasn't been adopted. For example, at the 33rd regular session, something similar to today, for three hours, I repeat – three hours – the agenda was debated and in the end – it was not adopted. The session was not held. The reason is always the same: there is no cooperation between the mayor and the Municipal Council. Bad interpersonal relationships, toxic atmosphere.

In addition, the Statute is 20 years old and not aligned with the laws. The Service for Work with the Municipal Council has been cut by the municipal administration and is effectively decimated. At some of the past sessions, there weren't even enough people to prepare the minutes on time. The President of the Municipal Council has had his associates taken away, and he has no lawyer in his office. Councilors see this as an attack by the mayor on the integrity of the Municipal Council. The mayor feels that the Municipal Council is his enemy.

Then harsh words, insults, and even curses begin. All of this creates the worst possible interpersonal relationships, and every attempt to resolve it has failed in this term and led to an even worse situation.

At the same time, it is clear to everyone that neither the mayor can work properly alone, without the Municipal Council, nor can the Council do anything without the mayor. Without their joint work, mutual respect, and cooperation, what is currently the fate of Centar happens: STAGNATION.

As long as the municipal administration and the Municipal Council view each other as enemies, the Municipality of Centar will not move an inch from the mud it is in.

Today, a group of citizens from the Marijin Dvor area were present at the session, as well as representatives of FK Sarajevo, who came with the intention of discussing their specific problems and ideas for solutions. It was also supposed to be discussed how far the implementation of projects from this year's budget has come. But all of that remained in the background, because the Municipality of Centar, like most of this term, had to deal with itself, not with what the citizens want," wrote Gratz.
