Goal fest in Grbavica and Mostar: Željo squandered a two-goal lead, Sarajevo 'turned around' Velež

(Patria) - Two matches were played tonight as part of the penultimate round of the BiH Premier League, and a total of nine goals were scored.

An exciting match was played at the Rođeni stadium in Mostar between hosts Velež and Sarajevo. The visitors celebrated with a 3:2 comeback victory.

Although this match had less significance in terms of results, as it was already known that both teams would qualify for European competitions as third and fourth-placed teams, we witnessed a very dynamic game, especially in the second half.

The first half offered little excitement. Velež had more possession of the ball, but without any serious chances, while Sarajevo rarely threatened.

However, at the very end of the first half, the hosts took the lead after a big mistake by Kyeremeh, who awkwardly passed the ball back towards Maroodza. Spahić reacted well to intercept the play, went one-on-one with the goalkeeper, and confidently scored to make it 1:0.

The second half brought a completely different picture and a true goal fest. Sarajevo equalized at the start, with Krdžalić scoring in the 49th minute after an excellent solo run.

Just two minutes later, the visitors took the lead – after a nice play by Carlos, Ljajić scored for Sarajevo, his sixth goal of the season.

However, Velež quickly got back into the game and equalized in the 54th minute with a beautiful goal by Đurić.

Sarajevo could have taken the lead again in the 57th minute, but Ljajić shot wide from a good position.

However, in the 66th minute, the same player redeemed himself. He brilliantly set up Menalo, who went one-on-one with goalkeeper Ribić and scored to make it 3:2.

The score remained unchanged until the end of the match, and Sarajevo recorded another victory of the season.

In the final round, Sarajevo will play the city derby against Željezničar at Košev, while Velež will visit Zrinjski in another Mostar derby.

In the other match tonight, the footballers of Željezničar and Široki Brijeg drew 2:2 at Grbavica.

The home team started the match furiously and gained a significant lead in the opening minutes.

First, Odinaka found the net in the ninth minute, and just three minutes later, Prokop increased the lead to 2:0 after a nice play.

Željezničar could have scored a third goal, but Prokop failed to beat the opposing goalkeeper for a second time as his attempt went over the bar.

Široki Brijeg reacted late, and their first serious attempt came in the middle of the first half when they threatened, but Abdulahović was safe in the home goal.

Klepač soon showed his quality with a great run through the Željezničar defense, but he also failed to score.

On the other side, Seedorf threatened after a good cross from Alić, but there was no change in the score.

However, before halftime, Široki Brijeg managed to reduce the deficit through Bajkuša, so the teams went into halftime with a score of 2:1.

Željezničar also started the second half offensively. Alić and Gojak tried, but without success, while the visitors threatened through Pranjić, but Abdulahović intervened again.

The key moment of the match occurred in the 52nd minute when Filip Matić punished the home goalkeeper's rush with a spectacular shot, bringing Široki Brijeg level.

After that, the 'Blues' tried to regain the lead through Šabić and Vini Peixoto, but they couldn't find the back of the net.

There were no major chances until the end of the match, so the teams eventually shared the points at Grbavica.
