(Patria) - In the heart of the Italian region of Emilia-Romagna, in a former medical equipment factory in Cavezzo, near Modena, preparations for the production of the Giamaro Katla are nearing completion.
This is a completely new hypercar that heralds the arrival of a serious challenger in the elite world of the Italian automotive industry, reports Autoklub.
Although Giamaro Automobili is a completely new player, what they have created is anything but an ordinary car.
The Katla uses a 7.0-liter V12 engine with four turbochargers, producing an incredible 2,157 HP and 2,010 Nm of torque.
Power is transmitted to the rear wheels via a 7-speed manual transmission, a true rarity in today's era of automatics.
Giamaro is located in the famous Italian automotive region, home to Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati, Pagani, and Ducati. The key person behind the project comes precisely from this region.
Loris Bicocchi is a legendary engineer who worked on models such as the Countach, Diablo, Bugatti EB110 and Veyron, Zonda, Koenigsegg CCX, and Chiron.
Under his supervision, a prototype with an optional dual-clutch automatic transmission has also been developed, which is currently being tested in Giamaro's development halls.
The Katla is built on a carbon monocoque chassis, without a traditional rear subframe.
The long (479 centimeters), low, and wide car weighs only 1,450 kilograms. The suspension is made of CNC-machined aluminum, with double wishbones and internal springs.
A special feature is the electronically adjustable "heave" spring, seen for the first time on a road car. A key partner is Bridgestone, which has developed special Potenza Sport tires (265/35ZR20 front, 345/30ZR21 rear).
The engine was developed in collaboration with Italtecnica from Turin, known for its work on restomod projects such as the Kimera EVO37 and the Porsche 928 reinterpretations.
The quad-turbo setup within the 120-degree configuration allows for superior throttle response, with each turbo feeding three cylinders.
The power is simply incredible. The Katla, depending on the settings, delivers 1,670 HP and 1,556 Nm or a brutal 2,157 HP and 2008 Nm. These are truly impressive figures, as the more powerful variant has more horsepower than both the Chiron and the Nevera.
The company emphasizes that customers do not just choose the color and equipment, but the character of the car. With Bicocchi, they will be able to customize every component: suspension, balance, steering, dampers, and even the driving feel.
They claim they can tune the car to behave like a Ferrari, Porsche, or Bugatti.
The price has not been announced, but Giamaro already has confirmed orders for the first year of production.
They plan to produce 30 cars per year, and the Katla Roadster (open-top version) and Albor, a raised crossover coupe with rear-wheel drive, are already in preparation.
The company already has detailed plans until 2030, and the Katla is just the beginning.
