(Patria) - The Football Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina has expressed its deep solidarity with all citizens affected by the catastrophic floods that have caused enormous material damage, irrevocably claimed human lives, and inflicted painful wounds on many families across our country.
Aware of the gravity of the situation, the FBiH is determined to help those affected in restoring the extensive damage to their homes and auxiliary facilities through a series of concrete activities.
The FBiH will actively participate in the process of collecting financial resources to be donated to all those in need of material assistance.
These funds will be directed towards individuals and communities in areas that have suffered the greatest damage, in order to enable the reconstruction of their homes and their return to normal life.
The campaign will be organized at all levels, in cooperation with various partners, humanitarian organizations, and donors.
At the upcoming home UEFA Nations League matches, in Zenica against Germany and Hungary, the Football Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in cooperation with the humanitarian organization Pomozi.ba, will place donation boxes at all stadium entrances.
"We hereby call on all fans to take this opportunity and help with their contributions to the recovery of the affected areas. All collected funds will be directly delivered to citizens and communities in these areas.
In addition to institutional support, the players and coaching staff of the national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as members of the FBiH Executive Board, have decided to set aside part of their personal funds to make their full contribution to this campaign.
Thus, everyone in the FBiH, management, administration, coaching staff, and players, has recognized the seriousness of the situation with a sincere desire to concretely participate in providing material assistance to the affected citizens in the endangered areas.
By agreement between the President of the FBiH, Vice Zeljković, and the President of UEFA, Aleksander Čeferin, the FBiH has sent an official request to UEFA for the approval of dedicated funds to be used for the repair of damage caused by the floods.
UEFA has recognized the importance of this campaign and will fully support our efforts to provide assistance to fellow citizens who have suffered enormous material damage.
We hereby call on all our fans at the upcoming matches to show sportsmanship and respect towards opponents, and to avoid incidents with their behavior that could lead to new fines from UEFA.
Unfortunately, in previous matches, we faced high fines due to unsportsmanlike conduct by some fans (over 140,000 CHF, about 300,000 KM), which resulted in a ban on our fans from attending the away match against the corresponding national team of Germany in Freiburg.
The financial resources we lose in this way could be directed directly to those who need them most, our fellow citizens in places affected by catastrophic floods.
We call on all football lovers to join this campaign and help with their financial contributions in the reconstruction of communities severely affected by the floods. This is an opportunity to show solidarity, unity, and responsibility, not only as fans but as a socially responsible society that cares about its community.
The Football Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina remains committed to providing concrete assistance to all those in need in these difficult times. We hope that this campaign will contribute to a faster recovery and return of people to their homes," stated the FBiH.
