The Kurt Landauer Foundation announced today that the realization of the Beckenbauer project will take about 18 months.
The legendary German and Bayern Munich footballer Franz Beckenbauer passed away at the beginning of this year at the age of 78. According to German media, Beckenbauer suffered from Alzheimer's disease, which had significantly worsened.
Beckenbauer won the World Cup with Germany as a player in 1974, and then as a coach in 1990.
In addition to his club and international success, he is one of nine players to have won the FIFA World Cup, the European Cup, and the Ballon d'Or.
