(Patria) - "Connectivity of Bosnia and Herzegovina with the region, but also the connectivity of all of us with Europe must be a priority. The free flow of our people, goods and ideas will stop emigration and restore hope in a better tomorrow," said the Minister of Communications and Transport of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Edin Forto, after today's meeting in Belgrade with the Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure of the Republic of Serbia, Goran Vesić, adding that the two countries will jointly discuss with EU partners the financing of projects.
The ministers agreed that one of the more important projects between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia is the construction of the Sarajevo – Belgrade railway line, which arose as a joint initiative of the ministers of the two countries. The railway will enable further strengthening of economic activity between Serbia and BiH. Also, regarding the construction of the Sarajevo – Belgrade highway, Minister Vesić pointed out that the Sremska Rača-Kuzmin section of the highway will be completed by the end of the year.
The interlocutors explained that work is currently underway on the reconstruction of bridges on the Drina River, between Serbia and BiH.
Minister Forto emphasized that after the first meeting with Vesić, the development of the digitalization of transport permits was initiated.
"The business community involved in transport in the region will be able to digitalize everything necessary to enable a smooth border crossing," Forto stated.
Finally, Minister Forto invited Minister Vesić to Sarajevo on June 6 and 7, when, together with partners from the entire region and the EU, they will discuss other projects, especially those in the railway sector, when the signing of an agreement on joint investment in the railway corridor is expected.
