Ford loses about $100,000 on every electric car sold

(Patria) - Although the first quarter ended with a profit, Ford cannot be satisfied with the performance of its electric car production division, reports Index.hr.

Ford concluded the first quarter with a profit of $1.3 billion. The Model e division, responsible for electric car production, achieved a far more devastating result.

According to Bloomberg, their loss wiped out the company's entire profit with an incredible loss of $100,000 per unit sold.

Ironically, sales of electric Fords are on the rise, and in the first three months, the brand increased sales by 86 percent. A total of 20,223 units of the Mach-E, F-150 Lightning, and E-Transit models were sold.

However, this is still meager sales, as each model powered by a classic internal combustion engine had better sales than the total sales of electric models.

For example, the best-selling electric model is the Mach-E with sales of 9,589 units, while the best-selling classic model, the F-series, reached sales of as many as 152,943 units.

Ford has already slowed down the production of electric models in response to reduced demand for such vehicles.

Bloomberg reports that the company is reducing orders to battery suppliers and looking for other ways to offset the financial losses of its Model e group.

It should also be noted that Ford Pro, the commercial vehicle sales division, achieved a profit of three billion dollars.

Ford Blue, the retail group for internal combustion engine and hybrid models, also recorded a positive result of $900 million.
