(Patria) - Sarajevo footballers are in a major results crisis, one the club has not experienced in 28 years.
Coach Simon Rožman's chosen ones have suffered four consecutive league defeats and jeopardized their placement in Europe, writes Faktor.
First, in the last round of the autumn part of the season, they lost to Zrinjski in Mostar (0:2). This was followed by a home defeat to Široki Brijeg at the start of the spring part of the season (1:3), and they also ended up without points in away matches against teams that were at that time last and second-to-last in the Premier League table (Zvijezda 0:1, Željezničar 0:3).
According to available information on the website Bordovremeplov, the last time FK Sarajevo recorded four consecutive defeats was in the 1995/96 season.
28 years ago, in the period from March 16 to April 13, 1996, the following teams were more successful than the Bordeaux team: Rudar in Kakanj (2:0), Iskra in Bugojno (2:1), Zenica at Koševo (1:0) and Travnik at Pirota (3:2). The negative streak was then broken with a home victory against Olimpik (1:0).
When two draws in the Cup are added to the current black streak (Sloboda 1:1 - advanced on penalties, Borac 0:0 - the return leg is played on March 14), then the number reaches six matches without a win.
It is obvious that something is not right at FK Sarajevo. Coach Simon Rožman also admitted this.
If the team does not wake up from its "winter sleep," placement in Europe will be highly questionable.
For a team that has the best financial conditions and probably some of the highest-paid players in the league, this would be a major failure.
