Finland eliminated Georgia and advanced to the EuroBasket semi-finals

(Patria) - The Finnish national basketball team will play in the EuroBasket semi-finals for the first time in history.

The Finns defeated Georgia today in the quarter-finals with a score of 93:79, achieving their greatest success.

The Finnish team played a fantastic first half of the match in Riga, even leading by 20 points, and went into halftime with a 57:40 lead.

A significant drop in their play followed in the second half, and the persistent Georgians came within six points (73:67).

However, at a crucial moment, Georgia lost Goga Bitadze (five personal fouls), and thus their strong presence in the paint, which opened the path for Finland to victory.

Ultimately, the team led by young strategist Lassi Tuovi recorded a victory with a score of 93:79.

The winning team was led by Mikael Jantunen (19 points) and Lauri Markkanen (17), while Georgia's top scorer was Alexander Mamukelashvili (22).

In the semi-finals, the Finns will play against the winner of tonight's match between Germany and Slovenia, which is scheduled for 8:00 PM.
