Fenerbahçe to make an important decision today: Will Edin Džeko's club withdraw from the Turkish league?

(Patria) - Following the chaos at the Trabzonspor - Fenerbahçe derby (2:3) in the 30th round of the Turkish championship, which shocked the football public two weeks ago, Fenerbahçe's management has announced an extraordinary session for today to decide whether to remain in the Turkish league or withdraw.

Fenerbahçe is seriously considering leaving the Turkish Super League, where they are in second place with 79 points and are battling Galatasaray for the title.

Club president Ali Koc revealed to the Turkish media that the club is ready for drastic moves and has even announced the possibility of withdrawing from the league and potentially moving to one of the European leagues.

- It's time to show the whole of Turkey that enough is enough. The knife has reached the bone and cut, it's just about to sever the leg. We have two options. The first is to do nothing, and that's the worst, if you ask me.

There is also an extreme option, which is to withdraw from the league. The club leaders will meet on Tuesday to make a decision on what to do next.

Don't think we will make a decision driven by emotions. We will make the right decision through discussion. It is not clear what we will do, but we will certainly not just sit idly by. I hope that April 2nd will be a turning point not only for Fenerbahçe but also for Turkish football - said Koc.

On Sunday evening, the entire Fener team gathered at the club premises for the players to voice their opinions on the dramatic situation. Although the situation is extremely serious, it seems the players do not want to leave Turkey.

At the meeting, which lasted more than an hour, President Koc and head coach İsmail Kartal spoke first, followed by the captain of the BiH national team and Fenerbahçe, Edin Džeko.

The vice-captains also spoke, and Džeko stated that they are aware of the injustice being done to Fenerbahçe, but emphasized that the events in Trabzon have further strengthened and united them.

He added that they are ready to fight for all remaining trophies until the end, while Koc, after everything, emphasized that he is proud of the players and their reaction to everything that happened in Trabzon.
