Federal deputies must help Adnan without debate!

(Patria) - An emergency session of the House of Representatives of the Parliament of the Federation of BiH will be held in Sarajevo today, starting at 1:00 PM.

The agenda includes only one item to be considered under urgent procedure - Proposal of the Law on Amendments to the Law on Transplantation of Organs and Tissues for the Purpose of Treatment.

The FBiH Government adopted this legislative proposal yesterday at an emergency session, all because of a 22-year-old young man from Mostar who has no time to wait.

The life of Adnan Šemić, who has been diagnosed with Wilson's disease and needs an urgent liver transplant, depends on today's adoption of the law amendments.

The money for the transplant has been secured, but the current law stipulates that the donor for Adnan must be a relative, extramarital partner, or in-law related to the patient.

Unfortunately, no one in his family is able to donate a part of their liver. However, a benefactor, Željko Mijailović from Loznica, has come forward who wants to help him.

- We went to Turkey twice, but the Turkish authorities do not allow liver donation except to close relatives.

A team of doctors who would do it in our country has come forward, the problem is almost the same in BiH - says Adnan's uncle Adem Gačanica.

The law amendments adopted yesterday by the FBiH Government allow a donor to be a person who is not a relative of the patient.

If they have any humanity in them, the deputies at today's session will not politicize Adnan's case at all and will adopt the law without debate.

However, even if they adopt it today, the delegates in the House of Peoples will have to do the same, whose leadership, however, has still not found it appropriate to schedule an emergency session.
