Fadil Novalić's right to call lawyers and family revoked

(Patria) - Fadil Novalić, former Prime Minister of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, has had his right to use the phone, specifically calls to family and lawyers, revoked, Elmir Jahić, a member of Novalić's legal team, confirmed to Patria.

"I can confirm that Fadil Novalić's right to use the phone, meaning communication with his legal team and family, was revoked on January 7th. It is indicative that this was done at a time when the application for Strasbourg is being widely written. The defense has not received any written order based on which such a decision was made. We have written to the Ministry of Justice, the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, asking for clarification on the basis of this decision," said Jahić, specifying that there is no more information at this moment.

We remind you that the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina partially granted the appeal of Fadil Novalić and Fahrudin Solak, ruling that their right to a fair trial was violated, particularly concerning the presumption of innocence.

This violation relates to statements made by certain public officials during the criminal proceedings. However, regarding other claims in the appeal, the request of F. S. and F. N. was rejected. The Constitutional Court did not state that this gives them the right to a retrial.

However, the Constitutional Court of BiH did not make a decision to return the proceedings to the Court of BiH, and both Novalić and Solak remain in prison.
