EURO 2024: Schedule of Today's Matches

(Patria) - Today, as part of the European Championship, three group stage matches are scheduled, one from Group A and two from Group B. All matches can be followed live on BHRT channels.

At 3 PM at the stadium in Cologne, as part of the first round of Group A, Hungary and Switzerland will face each other.

This will be their first encounter in major tournaments after 86 years, specifically since the 1938 World Cup match, when Hungary won 2-0.

However, Switzerland is considered a slight favorite, having won six of their last nine matches against Hungary. Their last encounters were in the qualifiers for the 2018 World Cup, where Switzerland won both matches.

At 6 PM, as part of the first round of Group B, Spain and Croatia will clash at the stadium in Berlin.

This will be the 11th meeting between the Vatreni and La Furia, and historically, Croatia has not fared well in these encounters. Croatia has won three times, lost six times to Spain, and one match ended in a draw.

Croatia and Spain played their first match in March 1994, a friendly encounter in which the Croatian footballers won 2-0. After that, Spain won a new friendly match in 1999 by 3-1, and a year later, another friendly match ended without a winner (0-0).

In June 2006, Spain won, again in a friendly match, 2-1, and all subsequent encounters have been in major tournaments.

The first time these two national teams met at the European Championships was in June 2012, and Spain won that match 1-0. Four years later, the Vatreni got their revenge for that defeat, winning 2-1 in the group stage of the Euros.

After the 2018 World Cup, where Croatia won historic silver, Dalić's charges suffered a catastrophic 0-6 defeat to Spain in the Nations League, and the Croats retaliated in the winter of the same year, when Croatia defeated Spain 3-2 at home, which was their last victory over La Furia.

In the last two mutual encounters, Spain has been victorious, first at the last Euros in a thrilling round of 16 match 5-3, and then they won after a penalty shootout in 2023 in the Nations League final.

At 9 PM, the second match in Group B will be played at the stadium in Dortmund. Italy and Albania will face each other.

If we look at the past results of these two teams, the Azzurri should win, as in the four matches played since their first encounter in November 2014, they have won all four, scoring seven goals and conceding one.

An advantage for the team coached by Sylvinho might be that his players know the Italians very well, as a large portion of their national team members play in Serie A.
