EPBiH launched a campaign to raise awareness about rational electricity consumption: Turn off the excess, think about tomorrow

(Patria) - At a time when the world population is increasingly thinking about and warning about sustainability and responsible resource use, Elektroprivreda BiH has launched the campaign "Turn on good habits, consume smarter", with the aim of raising awareness about the importance of more rational electricity consumption.

The campaign, which is being implemented in the Federation of BiH where Elektroprivreda BiH is the primary electricity supplier, seeks to bring closer to citizens simple and everyday ways in which we can all contribute to greater energy efficiency, without sacrificing comfort, but by developing smarter consumption habits. The goal is to point out to customers ways of rational electricity use in order to reduce consumption, and thus financial costs.

Although Bosnia and Herzegovina has a relatively stable energy system and still manages to produce electricity from its own capacities, thus allowing prices in the household consumption category to remain among the lowest in the region and beyond, an increase in consumption of about 2.5% annually has been recorded in the past period, which indicates the need for greater understanding of the importance of a responsible attitude towards energy.

Energy efficiency is not just a matter of savings. It is part of a modern way of life, an important step in preserving resources, but also an element of secure supply in the future. The campaign is being conducted as one of Elektroprivreda BiH's measures to mitigate the consequences of increased consumption and preserve domestic production capacities in order to avoid reliance on imported energy.

"With this campaign, Elektroprivreda BiH, as a socially responsible company that, despite numerous market challenges, ensures a stable electricity supply, wants to promote values that contribute to a more sustainable future. We want to inspire citizens to become aware of the moments when they really need energy and when they don't. Small changes can bring big results. It is our common responsibility to use energy smartly and in moderation. Therefore, we appeal to make small but significant steps that contribute to a more stable energy system and a better future. Every saving and every rational choice is a contribution to our common energy security and sustainable development of Bosnia and Herzegovina," said the general director of Elektroprivreda BiH, Dr. sci. Sanel Buljubašić, reminding that, in addition to financial savings for citizens, energy efficiency has an important impact on environmental protection and mitigating climate change.

Electricity consumption in BiH is considerably higher compared to developed, but also some developing countries. Precisely the high specific electricity consumption also indicates a significant potential for savings, which, according to estimates, are possible up to 30%.

In the first phase of the campaign, until the end of this year, the focus is on promoting key messages aimed at appealing to the importance of joint contribution to energy saving and supporting citizens in acquiring new, more energy-efficient habits.

"Turn on good habits - consume smarter, turn off the excess, think about tomorrow" is the message calling for a more conscientious approach to electricity consumption because every individual is responsible for creating a better living environment today, but also for the generations to come.
