(Patria) - English clubs will vote in June on the potential abolition of VAR technology from next season, BBC reports.
The 20 clubs will express their opinion on this proposal, submitted to the Premier League by Wolverhampton, at the annual general meeting on June 6.
The club claims that VAR was introduced in good faith, but has led to "a number of unintended negative consequences that harm the relationship between fans and football".
VAR technology was introduced in 2019 to assist referees in making important decisions on the field, but a series of controversial incidents have occurred this season.
The price we pay for a small increase in accuracy is against the spirit of our game, Wolverhampton stated.
The Premier League management has stated that they acknowledge the concerns about VAR, but fully support the technology and will continue to work with the refereeing organization on improvements.
