(Patria) - Today, the first official training session was held in Cortina d'Ampezzo (Italy) ahead of the Audi FIS World Cup downhill and Super-G races, scheduled for Saturday, January 18, and Sunday, January 19.
Bosnia and Herzegovina's top alpine skier, Elvedina Muzaferija, started the first downhill training run with bib number 22 and, through her performance across four sectors, showed that she feels excellent on her favorite slope and is in good form. In the second sector, she recorded a podium-worthy time for third place, skiing this section six hundredths of a second faster than today's fastest skier, Federica Brignone.
Timing for Muzaferija was stopped in the last, fifth sector after a slight fall by the Bosnian skier, who managed to stay on her skis and safely descend to the flat section.
Another official training session is planned for tomorrow as preparation for the third downhill race of the current Audi FIS World Cup season.
The season of speed events for women started precisely with the downhill competition in Beaver Creek, USA, on December 14, from which Muzaferija has earned six points.
The races on the "Olympia delle Tofane" slope, the downhill on Saturday and the Super-G on Sunday, will be held at 11:00 AM.
