Elvedina Muzaferija: Turning my focus to Crans-Montana and the Olympics

(Patria) - Italian Tarvisio was the fourth stop of the Audi FIS Women's World Cup in speed disciplines, where downhill and Super-G were held this weekend.

Thirty-year-old Nicol Delago achieved her first career victory in the elite competition in the downhill discipline, while in today's Super-G race, Emma Aicher was the fastest, who was unreachable even for Lindsey Vonn with her brilliant run.

The experienced American finished in second place with a time of 1:14.31, which was 27 hundredths slower than Aicher. Ester Ledecka finished in third place, and the highest-ranked domestic skier was Sofia Goggia, who took sixth position.

The most successful Bosnian and Herzegovinian alpine skier Elvedina Muzaferija, on the very demanding course in Tarvisio, did not manage to place among the top 30 and score World Cup points. She finished Saturday's downhill race in 45th place, and today's Super-G in 38th position.

"The course was demanding, it required maximum precision, and it was difficult to develop speed in all sectors. The result is not what I wanted, but it is an important lesson before competing in Crans-Montana, on a course I know well, and before the Olympic Games, of course, which are getting closer and closer to us," says Muzaferija.

The fifth stop of the downhill and Super-G competitions of the FIS Women's World Cup is Crans-Montana, where, along with two official training sessions, the world's fastest skiers, including Elvedina Muzaferija, will stay and compete from January 28 to 31.

This will be the last competition before the start of the Milano - Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games, which will be held from February 6 to 22.
