Elvedina Muzaferija 34th in today's downhill, Super-G in Cortina tomorrow

(Patria) - Italian skiers Sofia Goggia and Federica Brignone dominated in front of the home crowd in the Audi FIS World Cup downhill race held today in Cortina d'Ampezzo, in which Bosnia and Herzegovina's top alpine skier Elvedina Muzaferija also competed.

With an incredible run and a time of 1:33.95, Goggia triumphed ahead of second-placed Norwegian Lie Kajsa Vickhoff and third-placed Brignone.

The 25-year-old Muzaferija skied cautiously and somewhat slower in today's race compared to the first official training session. She covered the 2,578-metre-long "Olympia delle Tofane" course in one minute, 36 seconds and 21 hundredths, i.e., +2.26 hundredths behind today's winner, securing the 34th position. She reached a top speed of 130 km/h in the second section of the course.

A new Super-G race awaits the world's fastest skiers, or queens of speed as they are also called, tomorrow. In this discipline, Muzaferija finished 14th on the Cortina course last season, and after initial analyses of today's downhill, the BH team believes that the Super-G, scheduled for 11:00 AM tomorrow, will bring a good result and new valuable points for the BH skier.
