Edin Cocalić bids farewell to FK Željezničar: Thank you for helping me achieve my dreams

(Patria) - Edin Cocalić has bid farewell to FK Željezničar. He posted an emotional message on Instagram, and numerous fans thanked him for his contribution to the club from Grbavica.

Cocalić started his career at Željezničar, from where he moved to Greece in 2010, played in Israel, Belgium, and Turkey, before returning to his beloved Grbavica as a free agent at the beginning of 2022.

The defender, born in Višegrad, made 26 league appearances last season and scored one goal. It was expected that he might defend the blue colors next season as well, but the 36-year-old announced that the time has come for parting ways.

"Do you remember, my beloved club, when I came to meet you as a boy? I remember it as if it were yesterday. Together with my father, I came to training on the dirt pitch next to the stadium. That's when the love was born, a love that defined the life of a child.

We spent time together every day, and I tried and dreamed of wearing your blue and white jersey. Days, months, and years passed, and our connection grew stronger… Childhood flew by, and I was already an adult. I stand proudly on the center of our stadium's pitch with the captain's armband on my arm, looking at the packed stands.

A voice whispers in my ear, this is it, you have fulfilled your childhood dreams. Memories and all the days we spent together flash through my mind. With tearful eyes, I tell you that there is no greater feeling and that all the effort was worth it. My beloved club, thank you for everything. Thank you for the opportunity to fight for your colors.
