Džumhur's lionhearted fight in Paris not enough for a sensation against Alcaraz

(Patria) - The best BH tennis player Damir Džumhur has ended his participation at this year's Roland Garros.

In the third round of the second Grand Slam tournament of the season, played on the central court in Paris, Džumhur, despite more than a solid performance, ultimately had to shake hands with the better player at the net - the world's second-ranked tennis player and last year's defending champion, Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz.

After three hours and 14 minutes of a great battle, the score was 3-1 for the, by many, tournament favorite. The scoreboard read 6-1, 6-3, 4-6, 6-4.

Džumhur played the first two sets quite poorly, managing to win only four games. He only started playing well in the third set, breaking Alcaraz's serve in the seventh game and finishing the set 6-4.

He carried the good play from the third set into the fourth, immediately breaking his opponent's serve at the start. However, he couldn't maintain it, and after leading 3-1, he allowed his opponent to win four games and serve for the match.

The player from Sarajevo, however, did not give up, breaking his opponent's serve again to make it 4-5. Unfortunately, in the next game, he lost his serve, and Alcaraz thus secured the victory.

Watch the most interesting parts of the match in the video below, in which both players, with great shots, repeatedly earned thunderous applause and admiration from the Parisian crowd.

In the round of 16, the Spaniard will play against the left-handed American Ben Shelton.
