Džeko: You have to enter the game 100% ready, today we missed a player like Pjanić

(Patria) - Edin Džeko, captain of the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team and hero of today's match who scored the only goal, said that the game was much harder than they expected.

"The 3 PM kick-off didn't help us, but that's not an excuse. It was wonderful to see so many fans against San Marino, but that is also respect for Pjanić's farewell. It turned out that this national team must not enter the game below 100 percent. I believe we will be much better and more cautious in San Marino," said the captain.

Regarding the young players and the pressure they feel, Džeko said he is there for them.

"We talk, I say when a striker finds himself in chances, how many I have missed and I don't remember. This is a young team and a young national team, and each of these matches will be a new experience. We had to and could have done much better, but I think this will be a good lesson," the captain said.

Speaking about Miralem Pjanić's farewell, Džeko was emotional and recalled their beginnings in the national team back in 2007.

"We were together and it's not easy when a player like that leaves the national team. It turned out today that we could have used Pjanić in today's match as well. It's up to us to thank him and wish him luck in the future," Džeko said.
