Džeko wins over Italian journalists: I call on fans to stand up and applaud when the Italian anthem is played

(Patria) - The national football team of Bosnia and Herzegovina plays the final match of the play-off for the World Cup against Italy on Tuesday.

Italian journalists had questions for captain Edin Džeko, and he won them over with his approach once again today. Besides answering questions in Italian, he made a special request to the BiH fans when the Italian anthem was to be played.

"Italy is our friendly country, and I would like, when the Italian anthem is played, for everyone to stand up and applaud because they were the first to come to our country after the war in 1996 and played a friendly match with us, and we are grateful to them for that. Surely there will be opportunities to talk before and after the match, but during the match, it's war," said Džeko.

Even after the press conference, Džeko respected the journalists from Italy, patiently taking photos and talking with them.

With this move, Edin Džeko once again showed why he is a favourite of BiH fans and why he is one of the best ambassadors Bosnia and Herzegovina will have in the world.

Edin Džeko's family remained to live in Italy, although he is with German Schalke 04 until the end of the season.
