Džeko beats goalkeeper with his left foot, Fener celebrates in first match under Mourinho's direction

(Patria) - Fenerbahce defeated Romanian side Petrolul Ploiesti 2:1 in their first friendly match before heading to preparations in Austria.

It was the first match for the Turkish vice-champions under the command of coach Jose Mourinho.

Although there is growing talk that Bosnian striker Edin Džeko will move from Istanbul to Split and commit to Hajduk, the Diamond started today and wore the captain's armband.

Džeko scored the equalising goal for Fenerbahce in the 41st minute, reports Faktor.ba.

The experienced striker received the ball in the penalty area, brilliantly shook off his marker and struck the unprotected part of the net with his left foot.

In the second half, Zajc settled the winner with a spectacular free-kick goal.

Rade Krunić also played from the first minute for Fenerbahce.
