Domen Prevc celebrated in Garmisch and solidified his lead in the Four Hills Tournament, Zajc suspended

(Patria) - Slovenian ski jumper Domen Prevc won today's competition in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, the second stop of the 74th Four Hills Tournament.

Prevc (26) thus continued his excellent streak, achieving his seventh triumph in the last eight World Cup competitions, and also increased his lead in the overall standings of the Four Hills Tournament.

In the first round, he achieved a jump of 143 meters, while in the second round he had a jump two meters shorter, which was enough for 303.1 points.

Domen Prevc brought Slovenia its fifth triumph on the Garmisch hill within the Four Hills Tournament. Before him, Primož Peterka recorded two victories in 1997 and 2003, Peter Prevc (Domen's older brother) in 2016, as well as Anže Lanišek, who celebrated at the beginning of 2024.

Norway and Austria have the most celebrations in Garmisch-Partenkirchen with 15 victories each.

Second and third place in today's competition were taken by representatives of Austria - Jan Hörl and Stephan Embacher.

Hörl achieved jumps of 141 and 131.5 meters, and had 15.4 points less than the winner overall, while Embacher was 16 points behind the winner in third place (jumps of 134 and 141.5 meters).

The competition was marked by the second disqualification of the Slovenian representative Timi Zajc. He was disqualified because his suit deviated from the permitted limit by four millimeters, and previously at the first competition in Oberstdorf, he lost second place due to exceeding the suit limit by three millimeters.

Zajc thus received his second yellow card, which should lead to him missing the remaining two appearances in the Four Hills Tournament in Austria, and the final decision will be known after the appeal of the Slovenian team is reviewed.

After victories in the German part of the tournament, Prevc leads with 619.8 points in the overall standings of the Four Hills Tournament, Hörl is in second place with a 35-point deficit, and Embacher is third with 578.3 points.

In the overall World Cup standings, Prevc increased his lead and now has 1,050 points. In second place is Japan's Ryoyu Kobayashi with 736 points, and third is Germany's Philipp Raimund with 581 points.

The Four Hills Tournament continues on January 4th with a competition in Innsbruck.
