Džeko also commented, emphasizing that he closely followed Schalke and spoke with club officials before his arrival.

"From the first interest, I intensively followed Schalke and watched their games. The conversations with the club leaders, coach Miron Muslić, as well as with Nikola Katić, were extremely positive," said Džeko.

"It is impressive how the team has progressed this season. I will give my all to be successful together in the remainder of the championship. I am especially looking forward to the first home game in front of a sold-out Veltins-Arena," said Edin.
