The ten richest people in the world are worth $1.9 trillion

(Patria) - Elon Musk entered 2025 not only as the richest man in the world, but also as the only billionaire whose wealth exceeded $400 billion since Forbes started tracking data.

From December 1 to January 1, Musk became $91 billion richer, reports Index.hr.

This increase occurred after his company SpaceX agreed to buy back insider shares in a deal that valued the company at $350 billion.

Previously, the company's value was around $210 billion. Musk founded it in 2002 and is still its CEO.

He also owns about a 42 percent stake in the company.

SpaceX is also the most valuable company in the world whose shares are not traded on the stock exchange. It is worth more than ByteDance (TikTok's parent company), Stripe, and OpenAI.

The second richest man in the world in the new year is Amazon founder Jeff Bezos. From December 1, Bezos moved up one place due to a roughly five percent increase in the company's shares.

He became $10 billion richer, entering 2025 with an estimated wealth of around $233.5 billion.

For the first time at the beginning of this month, Jensen Huang, co-founder and head of Nvidia, joins the top ten richest people, at 10th place.

His wealth is estimated at $118 billion, mainly coming from Huang's stake in the company whose shares saw a 171 percent increase in 2024.

Nvidia's market capitalization at the end of 2024 was $2.38 trillion, making it more valuable than Microsoft, but not Apple.

The total wealth of the ten richest people in the world amounts to $1.9 trillion, and seven of them are richer than they were a month ago.

The biggest loser in this elite club is Oracle chairman Larry Ellison.

His wealth fell by $17.2 billion during the month and is now estimated at almost $210 billion. Ellison dropped one place on the list.

These are the 10 richest people in the world as of the beginning of this year:
