Cvitanović: I think we can achieve great things

(Patria) - Croatian coach Mario Cvitanović addressed the BiH media for the first time today after taking over the helm of Football Club (FK) Sarajevo.

Cvitanović took over the coaching position at Sarajevo after the club mutually terminated their cooperation with Husref Musemić. He became the third coach to lead the club from Koševo this season.

At today's press conference, the Croatian expert said that he did not think for long after the call from the club's leadership from Koševo.

- I felt that there was a special energy and passion in the club and that they were looking for a person who has something this club needs, and that is energy, work, and sacrifice. I found myself in such characteristics and I didn't think for a second.

I was immediately interested in this project and job because I know what Sarajevo means for football in BiH, its tradition. I think we can achieve great things and that we will make proud everyone who loves this club - said Cvitanović.



He emphasizes that he has met the team and adds that he was received phenomenally by the leadership.

- Yesterday we had the first training session, today the second, and after that the third. We have started working. I expect perseverance, fight, and respect for the club and the crest that the players wear on their jerseys.

I cannot say that we will be as I want us to be in the first match, that takes time and I am giving my all to make it happen as soon as possible, I know that the fans want us to leave our hearts on the field.

We need to focus only on ourselves, on our game, to be at the highest possible level. The people here have been very kind to me, they manage to get things done in a second, and that says a lot about the club.

I want to give our maximum as soon as possible, I hope the players will reach a state where we breathe and play as one, which this club deserves.

We should not look back at what happened before, but only look forward. I am not afraid of challenges, one should seek them, not avoid them - states Cvitanović.

Journalists asked him if there would be a change in the system of play?

- I have a picture, but don't expect me to give you all the information, that's something we keep to ourselves, we need stabilization to achieve what we all want.

The match against Zrinjski, which has a stable team, but we are focusing only on ourselves at this moment - says Cvitanović.



Special attention, he says, will be paid to young players and the youth academy.

- Sarajevo must have its players from the youth academy, and a match was organized between the juniors and the B team, and we saw what we have.

Of course, every quality player is welcome, and we are also considering the idea of the first team playing a match with the B team during the international break - added Cvitanović.
