Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina introduces a uniform fee for payment transactions

(Patria) - The Governing Board of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina (CBBH) has adopted the Decision on Amendments to the Decision on Determining the Tariff of Fees for Services Provided by the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

This decision introduces a uniform fee for payment transactions in the giro clearing system and real-time gross settlement (RTGS).

With the new amendments, the fee for payment transactions for participants in the giro clearing system is BAM 0.26 per transaction (regardless of intraday settlement), and for payment transactions for participants in the RTGS is BAM 2.05 per transaction.

"This decision aims to speed up payment transactions, standardize payment transaction costs, enable easier cost management, and simplify the calculation of fees for payment transactions," stated the Governor of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Jasmina Selimović.

The amount of the uniform fee determined is lower than the current average value of fees, and its introduction allows commercial banks in Bosnia and Herzegovina to act uniformly regardless of the settlement interval of interbank transactions.

This decision by the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina was welcomed by the Banking Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which thanked the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Governor Selimović for understanding market conditions and their willingness to jointly improve the business environment in the interest of all citizens and businesses.

"We believe that this measure will contribute to greater transparency and efficiency in payment transactions and enable banks to manage costs more easily, while simultaneously improving the efficiency and quality of services they offer to their clients," emphasized Edis Ražanica, Director of the Banking Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In order to encourage depositors of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina to use electronic banking, the Decision on Amendments to the Decision on Determining the Tariff of Fees for Services Provided by the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina also amends the tariff of fees for services with depositors in the part related to the use of electronic banking.

The decision enters into force on the eighth day from its publication in the Official Gazette of BiH, and will apply from November 1, 2024.
